Why AUSOMA?

Why AUSOMA?

At AUSOMA, we want prospective students to know this: we are exceedingly proud of our medical school and the caliber of doctors we create.

As long as you have a 3.0 GPA and a passion for your medical future, you’re in the running to become a student here. But that’s not all you need to know about what we’re made of.

What Sets Us Apart

AUSOMA is a standout medical school for a variety of reasons. As we previously stated, we believe that a medical school education should be accessible for everyone who wants to enter the field, and those who have the experience and drive to do so. For that reason, we do not require MCAT scores – simply an excellent GPA above a 3.0.

Something we have, that no other medical school does, is an unmatched location. Set on the friendly, happy island of Aruba, there’s nothing like going to school in paradise. Aruba acts as a gorgeous background for your medical school education and its peaceful, quiet, tropical atmosphere feeds the minds of our students. Aruba provides the setting you need to succeed in a well-rounded, balanced manner.

Our education is also affordable. We don’t want future doctors to be dissuaded by unreachable, astronomical prices, so we’ve made sure that our fees are manageable instead of outrageous.

At AUSOMA, your education will be extremely personalized. With a 1:10 faculty to student ratio, you will receive the one-on-one attention you need, as our esteemed professors understand that not everyone learns in the same manner, at the same pace. When you need a teacher or a mentor, one will be available. We will never leave you stranded.

At AUSOMA, you will be supported in every way. We want to see you succeed.

Our Programs

Students love the fact that we have options when it comes to the programs we offer. At AUSOMA, depending on your background and existing credentials, you may choose to enroll in either our 4-year or 5-year program.

4-Year MD Program

If you hold a Bachelor’s in a pre-med concentrated degree, you are eligible to enroll  in our 4-year program. During the program’s 42 months, you’ll receive intensive medical education, training, and board review. But don’t worry – though our curriculum is thorough and challenging, you are still given semester breaks that don’t cut into your required graduation hours. After all, the brain needs a rest in order to perform its best.

During the 4-year program, you will move through 20 months of basic science courses and 18 months of clinical opportunities. After you complete USMLE Step 1, you’ll be eligible for clinical rotations at an affiliate hospital in the United States.

5-Year Pre-Med MD Program

If you have the necessary scholastic achievements from high school, you may be accepted into our 5-year program. This program puts you on track to enter residency and graduate to practice medicine by the age of 26!

This program includes six traditional college semesters packed into four fast-paced, accelerated semesters of pre-med studies at AUSOMA. While enrolled in this program, you’ll save time and secure your position as a medical student without going through the years it takes to earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Upon completion of our 5-year program, you will be eligible for medical licensure.

Learning in Paradise

At AUSOMA, we emphasize the fact that we operate a school meant for everyone – and that means transfer students as well. We welcome those transferring from other schools who want to experience what it’s like to learn in paradise. If you’ve spent time at another accredited medical school and are interested in switching to AUSOMA, you have a place here upon admission.

To get the most out of your medical school experience, we offer two clinical rotation sessions located at affiliated hospitals in the United States. There, you’ll spend two years completing clinical rotations to get an idea of what it’s like to work in a hospital, doing hands-on medical work and putting your education into action.

Applying Is Easy

It’s not our goal to make the application process difficult for applicants. Actually, that’s the last thing we want to do. Because we care about accessible education, we made sure that our application process is simple and straightforward.

All you have to do is complete the online application, submit all the necessary documents, and wait for admissions to contact you. There are no hoops to jump through or complex processes to figure out.

At AUSOMA, you are never alone or without resources. If you need assistance at any point during the process, get in touch with our admissions team and schedule a one-on-one appointment.
